Data & Materials

Data, Materials and Research Transparency

IKAD-ECCR supports transparent and reproducible scholarship while recognising that research involving children, families, and vulnerable populations may require legitimate restrictions on data sharing.

Data availability statement

Authors are encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement explaining whether underlying data, analytic materials, instruments, code, or other research resources are available and, where applicable, how they may be accessed.

Open data where appropriate

Authors are encouraged to deposit non-sensitive data and research materials in a trustworthy repository when this is ethically, legally, and practically appropriate.

Children and sensitive data

Open sharing is not required where it would conflict with consent, privacy, confidentiality, safeguarding obligations, legal restrictions, Indigenous or community data governance, or the best interests of children.

Data must not be de-identified only superficially when combinations of variables, quotations, locations, images, or contextual details could permit re-identification.

Restricted access

Where data cannot be made openly available, authors should state the reason and describe any controlled-access process where one exists.

Materials and instruments

Authors should provide sufficient information about questionnaires, coding frameworks, protocols, interventions, analytical procedures, and other materials to permit meaningful scholarly evaluation.

Code and computational research

Where custom code is central to the findings, authors are encouraged to provide code or sufficient documentation to permit verification, subject to applicable ethical, legal, contractual, or security restrictions.

Editorial verification

The journal may request underlying data, analytic outputs, documentation, or other materials when necessary to investigate substantial concerns about the accuracy or integrity of a manuscript. Such requests do not override legitimate confidentiality or safeguarding obligations.
